Course overview

The study day will prepare you for a period of supervised practice in the administration of peripheral intravenous drugs. It covers accountability of IV drug administration, how drugs work in the body, and safety issues for calculating dosages. It concludes with a multiple choice theory test (pass mark 70%) and a drug calculation test (pass mark 100%). You should bring a calculator for the calculation test.

Non assessed Attendees could gain academic credit by completing a portfolio module in which evidence of the application of learning gained in practice as a result of attendance of this short course is demonstrated.

This study day is for qualified nurses, midwives and other healthcare professionals who administer intravenous drugs to adult clients.

Applicants will require a suitably qualifies assessor and a period of supervised practice.
